What we do?
- We Design, Manufacture, and Install Helical / Screw Piles!
BC Helical Piles is a pioneer installer, manufacturer, and designer of helical piles in British Columbia, Canada ; this is what we do!
To ensure the success of the installation, these are the required steps we usually suggest:
To ensure the success of the installation, these are the required steps we usually suggest:
1) Existing buildings:
- If you have any concerns or problems with an existing building or construction, please email or call us. Best is to even send a photo of the problem. Please send it to: [email protected]
- We will have to come and see the problem ourselves. One engineer will come to the site and review the problem, and provide an assessment of the problem, potential solutions and corresponding costs. There may be several solutions, and all will be outlined and provided, for your consideration. Above all, we are engineers, and this means assisting the client. There is no charge for the initial visit and assessment.
- Some problems are easy, and a solution is obvious, in which case, we know from the first moment the number of piles required and the cost. However, some other problems require a site measurement and engineering calculations. This is the case of settled buildings, where laser level measurements are required to determine which portion of the building has settled. In such cases, a follow up visit to conduct detailed measurements is required. Arrangements will be made with the building owner.
- Cost estimates for various options are prepared. We do not charge for those, of course, and there is no obligation to proceed with any option.
- The client may decide to proceed with one of the options, in which case a work order is issued, discussed and agreed with the client.
- Permits are obtained, if permits are required. We are able to obtain the permits, on behalf of the owner, should this be requested.
- Work is scheduled and conducted. During the progress of the work, continuous monitoring and supervision from our in-house engineers is conducted. This is because our helical piles are installed by our engineers. The level of quality control and engineering knowledge is unique and unmatched to the industry. We are engineers, and we are passionate about helical piles; we do our own designs, and we install our own piles.
- At the end of the project, we sign off on the project (provide an engineering certification) that the project was successful, and the section of the building raised on piles will not settle in the future again. Such engineering certification is usually beneficial to house owners, to confirm that the building has been repaired and will not sink again in the future.

2) New buildings:
- If you consider building and inquire if helical piles may be more economical (or faster) than traditional foundation methods, please contact us. If you submit your question by email, please send it to: [email protected]
- The most effective way to improve the design is to send us the drawings and plans you have; we will review them, make suggestions and assist your structural engineer (or architect or geotechnical engineer) with the pile design and load transfer. We will work with your design team and assist them, by supplying design load data about our piles.
- We submit letters of assurance and assist your design team in obtaining the permits for the work.

3) Other type of projects we do in which we use helical piles:
- Retaining walls
- Decks, patios
- Building additions
- Support heavy equipment, tanks, shelves (industrial)
- Isolation pads for heavy equipment and vibratory machinery (industrial)
- Temporary structures (tie-down of scaffold, hoarding, temporary platforms, signs, billboards)
- Signs, billboards (permanent)
- Mobile homes, pre-manufactured structures, modular buildings
- Avalanche tie-downs, avalanche safety
- Landslide safety upgrades
Each of the above types of projects are analyzed in detail by us, and for each, helical piles may be one of the most economical and simplest solution.
